Dutch Television-Docs

The Netherlands has a long history in portraying transsexuals and transvestites on television. The media representation has been dominated by a heavily medical discourse that tends to assign transgender people to the role of victims. Features the finest examples from the Dutch television documentary tradition, the festival presents films that go beyond sensationalist representations of their subject.

Bram van Splunteren, NL, 1998, 27 min, video, in Dutch spoken without subtitles.
Part 3 from the trilogy on contemporary relationship between youth and their parents. Nick has always felt awry in his body as a girl.
