“My only pimp is my family. I only work for them”. Ecuador’s second largest form of national income is money sent by Ecuadorians working abroad. Mujerón (Mia) and Romina left their home country due the repressive atmosphere towards queer and transgender people and the economic malaise. In Paris, they work as prostitutes in the infamous Bois de Boulogne. The film shows with integrity and honesty the harsh reality surrounding illegal transgender prostitutes. The filmmaker met Mia and Romina and started filming them as friends. However, the final cut is enriched by detailing their lives over 3 years. The heart and the beauty of the film lay mainly with the gracious and proud Mia, and the playful Romina, always looking for romance.
Director Sebastiano d’Ayala Valva will be present at the screening.
The screening will be co-presented by our Communiy Partner, Transgender Netwerk Nederland
