Panel discussion on international transgender rights + Cruel and Unusual
Ticket of panel discussion gives free admission to screening of Cruel and Unusal at 10pmHow can we achieve proper transgender rights with dignity?Transgender existence and the quest for more sex and gender diversity pose challenges to what societies consider natural, normal and morally right. Being transgender means unintentionally exposing the loopholes and weaknesses in our social system. How should we respond to the rigidity of many governments’ stance on sex registration which has such negative impact on those who do not fit in the categories of man and woman? Or the gender hierarchy that still results in inequality between men and women, not to mention the oppression of gender variant people? Or the conservatism that stigmatizes people we consider social outcasts? This panel brings together activist, community organiser, politician, lobbyist, academic, artist and author who have dedicated their and professional lives to reflect on and fight for these important issues.
